IADB supports plan for financing sustainable agriculture in Nicaragua.

The Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) of the Interamerican Development Bank approved a loan and technical assistance for US$4,9 million to Root Capital, a social, not-for-profit investment fund, pioneer in the financing of producer cooperatives and associations and small and medium rural enterprises dedicated to sustainable agricultural production.

Demand for organic grows.
By: Medios* Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Products like cashew nuts and rosa de Jamaica [Hibiscus sabdariffa] are being accepted by European and U.S. markets. The goal is to increase export of these products by 15% in 2011.

The cashew nut and rosa de Jamaica are two of the Nicaraguan products gaining ground in the demanding European and U.S. markets. Demand for ecological food and beverages is on the rise in well-paying international markets, assures Javier Cassanova, EcoMercados´ regional program coordinator.
